About the Training Track

The Tourist Guiding Track (Professional Qualification for Foreign Language Speakers) is a specialized qualification program directed to proficient individuals in a foreign language who wish to develop their professional knowledge and skills in the field of tourist guiding and prepare more systematically for the competent government agencies in accordance with the official rules and requirements in force (this is not a sure guarantee of obtaining a license, but it is the required scientific qualification).

The track focuses on building an integrated knowledge and professional foundation that combines knowledge of Egypt’s history, civilization, tourism and heritage sites with presentation, interpretation, and communication skills for engaging with tourists.

The program does not view a tourist guide merely as a transmitter of historical information. A professional tourist guide is also a heritage interpreter, experience provider, and communicator with a multicultural audience. Therefore, the track focuses on how to transform historical, archaeological, and cultural information into a clear, engaging, and reliable narrative appropriate to the audience, time, and location.

The program covers the key knowledge areas related to Egypt and its tourism and cultural assets, with a focus on tourism sites and attractions, Ancient Egyptian Civilization, Egyptian history, Islamic and Coptic heritage, Historic Cairo, museums and heritage sites, and the principles of heritage interpretation and visitor engagement.

It also focuses on the practical skills required for tourist guiding, such as presentation and explanation skills, group management, managing visit time, responding to questions, intercultural communication, managing different situations during tours, and using storytelling and interpretation techniques in presenting information.
